BARBERA D'ALBA

VARIETY

Barbera 100%

PRODUCTION ZONE

The grapes for this wine come from the  vineyard in the community of Vezza d’Alba .

CULTIVATION OF THE VINEYARD

On this moderately inclined hill, consisting of a soil calcareous and clayey, the low Guyot trellised system is used.

VINIFICATION

The grapes are handpicked, the berries are separated from the stalks and then, softly pressed. Fermentation takes place in thermoconditioned vats at controlled temperature (30-32°C). The maceration period is about 8 days.

MATURATION

The wine is aged for about 1 year in young, french oak barrels some of 225 litres and some of 600 litres. During this aging period, the contact between wine and wood enhances the richness of the bouquet and allows the wine components to blend together harmoniously.

SENSORY CHARACTERISTICS

A purplisch ruby red colour with a fresch bouquet of currants and fruits of the wood. A pleasant robust flavour, lively and full – bodied with appealing vanilla overtones. This wine makes a delightful accompaniment to roasts and most meats.

FOOD MATCHES

A classic wine for the entire meal, it makes a fine accompaniment for appetizers and structured introductory dishes, roasted or stewed meats and cheeses that are not too piquant.
